Regarding placement of the play:
I have been confused… and just did historical research to clarify things. I was conflating Gaul and The Gallic Wars (of 58–50 BCE) over into Ireland much-much later, to my dismay. Regardless, I will be setting this in a loosely historical fantasy setting which can blend and bend with the needs of my story but will be more historically centered off the 1690-1691 battles between Ireland and Britain.
Still, it will be non-specific and of a fantasy tint with only light inspiration from that time period; sourcing ‘hollow hills’ ideas of its mythology, along with shape changers and the like.
The play takes place during a single overlong campaign of battle between local warriors relying on the magic of a sorceress against an overbearing empire-like force.
