Non-Binary People Are More Valid Than the Rest of Us
it’s nothing but natural to embody both femininity and masculinity
Do you ever laugh at people who express themselves as non-binary? Do you ridicule people who present in a way which you mentally apply gendered conceptions onto, who ask for non-gendered pronouns? Do you think it’s abusive to teach children that it is okay to be above modern conceptions of gender?
If you answered yes to any of the above, your ideology’s time is limited because it is short-sighted and regressive.
Children are of near-equal measure biologically, no matter their sex, until the age of puberty. There are exceptions of abundant ability beyond the normality measured by sex essentialism’s thinking in both directions.
To quantify non-binary identity as silly and invalid is a projection of the highest order. It is an insecurity of being phased out as invalid patten-matched forward.
Do you not understand gender?
Every understanding of gender can be as valid as the next, when it comes from an experience of authenticity. Gendered preconceptions are cultural constructs we’ve applied to the sex of people based off both epigenetic results, which are measurable, and our lineage’s propagations upon us through myth and historical recordings. Our histories of subjugation, repression, and adoration of certain expressions of gender are not blueprints we can trust as is; history was written by the victor, but that does not mean they were correct about the nature of humanity.
To tell a child that they are a man or woman, then define that as a construct of identity principles, is to limit their sense of being and therefore the possibilities of their growth. To emotionally coddle a youthful female is to hinder and deny their potential—and prototypical masculine virtues—of strength and the propensity for independent willpower. To scold and demand a youthful male from expressing feelings is to destroy their propensity to be a fully functional feeling human being. To have our boys and girls face the latent, regurgitative, conflated paradigms thrust at them from all angles by ignorant masses has them turning to ideologues who can pull them in with black and white nonsense which makes it seem simple enough to understand.
There is a future where we do better for our children, and it is a future where we remove gendered language and paradigms from their heads altogether. It will broaden the horizons and authenticity of everyone we rear into a wholeness of spirit they may devise from their own natural inclinations; teaching what it means to be human back to us.
New generations are here to teach their elders. We get things quite backwards by raising children into boxes which are rigid. It’s immoral to hamstring our kids into the limitations placed upon us from traditions which haven’t served our spirits.
Boys don’t cry makes me want to puke as much as pretty princess language.
We’re idiots to think adults who choose to step outside the paradigms of rigid gender binary are anything but heroic for standing against our ignorance.
Personally, I believe the androgynous are godly—I believe non-binary language is easy when we simply call people by their names or use preexisting non-gendered pronouns modified for singularity. It would be helpful for respecting people everywhere if folks in call centers and customer service positions answering phones were trained to communicate with people beyond honorifics of a time where “sir” and “ma’am” meant something more and less of insult.
While I face prejudice as a binary trans person in the workplace, and on the street—I face less judgement and ridicule than non-binary folks who simply wish to be seen as an embodiment of the all. Masculinity and femininity are two parts of a whole which lives within every one of us; their hardboiled ties to maleness and femaleness are a fraud which should and will one day end.
There is genuine reality to the sexes of a cisgendered and binary nature, predispositions, which create baselines of normality.
Those understandings serve no one. For the exceptional are our suppressed, vitrified, and misunderstood heroes of myth and history—the boxes we thrust children into harm us all for how they make people have to fight against our own rigid brain pathways.
We can do better. You can do better.
Your brain can take it.
Non-binary people deserve more than your respect—they deserve your deference for being people of the future—they deserve your effort to honor them as they wish.
